Finnish power plants and ship power solutions supplier Wartsila Corporation (OMX Helsinki:WRTAV) said on Friday (11 April) that it has been awarded a turnkey contract worth EUR134m by Nishat Power Ltd, an independent power producer in Pakistan.
The power plant, which will run on heavy fuel oil, is due to be operational by September 2009 and will be located near the city of Lahore.
The plant will comprise eleven Wartsila 46 diesel generating sets. Wartsila will supply the plant equipment, then erect, test and commission the plant and provide local construction supervision.
The Nishat Group is one of the leading business groups in Pakistan with interests in the textile, cement, insurance and banking sectors.
Wartsila Corporation supplies power solutions for the marine and energy markets. The company has over 16,000 employees in 70 countries.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.27 euros (EUR).
