Swedish content management systems and solutions provider Polopoly AB announced on Thursday (3 April) that it has been acquired by the British-based international media solutions provider Atex Group Ltd.

The acquisition is part of Atex Group's strategy to create a leading web content management product for web players. The product will be based on Polopoly's technology and organisation.

The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Polopoly, headquartered in Stockholm, provides content management systems for all types of media, for both editorial and user-generated content. The company has 55 employees and reported a turnover of SEK50m in 2007.

Atex Group, headquartered in Reading, is a leading provider of software and services to the global media industry. The group has 600 employees and its products are used in over 40 countries. Atex Group is controlled by the privately-owned Norwegian investment company Kistefos AS.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 11.85 Swedish kronor (SEK).
