Swedish consulting group SWECO (OMX Stockholm:SWEC A, SWEC B) said on Wednesday (30 April) that its Danish subsidiary Skaarup & Jespersen has acquired the Danish architecture firm Birk Nielsen Planlaeggere og Landskabsarkitekter.

Birk Nielsen, based in Aarhus, specialises in landscape architecture, urban planning and wind power, and has 18 employees.

The acquisition will provide SWECO with an office in Aarshus and increase its number of employees in Denmark to 55.

The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

SWECO, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, is the Nordic region's leading provider of consulting services within engineering, environmental technology and architecture. The company has 5,300 employees in 10 countries and reported sales of SEK4.6bn in 2007.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 11.82 Swedish kronor (SEK).
