Bermuda-registered Norwegian-controlled offshore drilling contractor Seadrill Ltd (OSE:SDRL) issued a brief statement on Friday (4 April) saying that it is in "advanced discussions" regarding long-term contracts for its deep-water drilling rig newbuildings currently under construction at Asian yards.
Seadrill said that it expects the discussions to be completed during the next two weeks.
Seadrill, headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda, has a fleet of 38 drilling units in operation or under construction. The company has 5,800 employees and reported operating revenues of USD1.32bn in 2007. Seadrill is managed by the Norwegian company Seadrill Management AS.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 2.00 US dollars (USD).
