Wartsila Corporation wins orders in Papua New Guinea

Finnish power plants and ship power solutions supplier Wartsila Corporation (OMX Helsinki:WRTAV) has won contracts to supply two power plants to be installed in the Madang region of Papua New Guinea.

The orders were placed in May and June by China ENFI Engineering Corporation with one plant to be located at the Ramu nickel mine, and the other at the nickel refinery in the port area.

The Ramu nickel mine is being developed by the China Metallurgical Group (MCC), a Chinese state-owned mining and natural resources exploitation concern, and its partners, Wartsila added.

Wartsila is contracted to supply the equipment, together with an engineering and technical assistance package. The refinery installation will include a heat recovery system with the waste heat being utilised in the complex refinery process.

Both installations are scheduled to be completed before the end of 2009, the company said.

No financial information was provided.

Wartsila Corporation supplies power solutions for the marine and energy markets. The company has over 16,000 employees in 70 countries.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.27 euros (EUR).
