NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-14 March 2008-Vattenfall signs major wind power plant agreement with Siemens(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
Swedish energy group Vattenfall AB said on Friday (14 March) that it has signed a two-year framework contract for the supply of wind power plants with Siemens.
Under the agreement Vattenfall will purchase a total of 170 MW of wind power plants from Siemens during 2009 and 2010.
"The agreement means that we are freeing up the supplier bottleneck for wind power plants. This will enable us to implement our drive to increase the proportion of renewable energy by the further expansion of wind power," said Anders Dahl, head of Vattenfall Windpower.
Vattenfall aims to increase its wind power production in the Nordic region by 8 TWh within the next 10 years and is currently researching suitable sites both onshore and offshore in the Nordic region.
Vattenfall, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, generates electricity, produces heat and supplies energy to several million customers in the Nordic countries and northern Europe. The company reported net sales of SEK143.64bn in 2007.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 12.29 Swedish kronor (SEK).
