Swedish industrial group Trelleborg AB said on Wednesday (19 March) that its business area Trelleborg Engineered Systems has agreed to acquire the US company MacDermid Offset Printing Blankets from MacDermid Inc.
The purchase consideration amounts to SEK400m, and will be paid in cash.

"The acquisition is part of Trelleborg's strategy to grow within profitable industrial segments," said Lennart Johansson, president of Trelleborg Engineered Systems.
"From an overall perspective, this acquisition gives Trelleborg a solid platform for continued growth in offset printing blankets. We will be the market leader in Europe and will have a good second position in the US. The acquisition also provides the possibility of favourable synergies in terms of marketing and costs," Johansson added.
Trelleborg, headquartered in Trelleborg, Sweden, manufactures polymer-based advanced products for the industry, and comprises the business areas Engineered Systems, Automotive, Sealing Solutions and Wheel Systems. The group has some 25,000 employees in 40 countries, and reported sales of SEK31bn in 2007. Trelleborg is listed on the OMX Nordic Exchange in Stockholm.
