Swedish medical technology group Elekta AB (OMX Stockholm:EKTA B) announced on Friday (2 May) that it has been selected as main provider of cancer and neurosurgical treatment solutions and supporting IT systems to Macquarie University Private Hospital, currently under construction in Sydney, Australia.

Elekta will supply the new hospital with the Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion for non-invasive radiosurgery, Elekta Synergy digital linear accelerator systems for intensity modulated and image guided radiation therapy, the MOSAIQ information management system, MOSAIQ RTP and ERGO++ for radiation treatment planning as well as 3mm micro-MLC for ultra precise radiation therapy.

The financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Elekta, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, provides clinical solutions, management and information systems as well as services for improved cancer care and management of brain disorders. The company has 2,500 employees worldwide and reported net sales of SEK4.52bn in the financial year 2006/2007.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 11.82 Swedish kronor (SEK).
