NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-22 May 2008-Telenor ASA initiates measures to working conditions in Bangladesh(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Norwegian telecomms group Telenor ASA (OSE:TEL) said on Thursday (22 May) that it initiates new measures to improve working conditions at suppliers of antenna towers in Bangladesh.

The company said that Det Norske Veritas' report on working and production conditions at Grameenphone's suppliers in Bangladesh highlights several issues that are not in line with the terms and conditions of the contracts, the Working Environment Act in Bangladesh, or with Telenor's Codes of Conducts.

Based on this, Telenor is presenting a list of initiatives to rectify the matters uncovered as soon as possible, the company said.

Telenor is a mobile operator, with nearly 83m subscribers in 12 countries and a provider of television services in the Nordic region. Telenor has some 27,600 employees and annual revenues of nearly NOK70bn.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 9.88 Norwegian kroner (NOK).
