Norwegian software developer Trolltech ASA (OSE:TROLL) said on Monday (5 May) that it has signed a USD0.5m licence agreement for its Qtopia application platform with a leading consumer electronics company.

The customer selected the Qtopia platform for an upcoming VoIP device.

The initial contract covers developer seat licenses, per-device royalty fees and services. The total value of the contract depends of customer shipments, Trolltech said.

The Qtopia platform is used for creating Linux-based devices. The platform has been deployed in mobile phones, car navigation systems, personal video recorders, media players, and other consumer electronic devices.

Trolltech, headquartered in Oslo, Norway, provides cross-platform software development frameworks for desktop and embedded applications providers, and consumer electronics and mobile vendors. The company has 245 employees and reported revenues of NOK218m in 2007. Trolltech is in the process of being acquired by the Finnish mobile phones maker Nokia.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 10.17 Norwegian kroner (NOK).
