Finnish power plants and ship power solutions supplier Wartsila Corporation (OMX Helsinki:WRTAV) said on Friday (9 May) that it has received an order for a turnkey power plant, valued at EUR80m, to be delivered to Brazil. The customer is Maracanau Geradora de Energia SA, an independent power producer. The contract is for a 168 MWe power plant to be installed at Fortaleza in north-eastern Brazil.
A full operations and maintenance (O&M) agreement is also under negotiation, Wartsila said.
This order follows two others, also for Brazil, signed in March 2008, the company added.
All three plants are due to be operational by the beginning of 2010.
Wartsila Corporation supplies power solutions for the marine and energy markets. The company has over 16,000 employees in 70 countries.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.28 euros (EUR).
