Swedish defence and aerospace group Saab AB (OMX Stockholm: SAAB B) announced on Monday (1 September) that it has completed the previously announced sale of its subsidiary Saab Space AB to the Swiss company RUAG Holding AG.

The sales consideration comprises a fixed payment of SEK335m plus additional payments based on future performance.

The sale is estimated to generate a capital gain of SEK100m during 2008.

The transaction was initially announced in July.

Saab Space is a leading independent supplier of highly qualified space equipment, including computer systems, antennas and microwave electronics for satellites and adapters and separation systems for launchers.

Saab, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, is a global high-tech group providing products, services and solutions from military defence to civil security. The group has 13,700 employees worldwide and annual sales of SEK23bn.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 11.72 Swedish kronor (SEK).
