Swiss-Swedish power and automation technology group ABB (OMX Stockholm:ABB) (NYSE:ABB) (SWX:ABBN) said on Monday (29 September) that it has received a USD48m power project from the mining group Rio Tinto in Australia.
The contract includes turnkey delivery of high-voltage transformer stations as part of a project to increase the production capacity at Rio Tinto's iron ore mines in the Pilbara region in Western Australia.
ABB, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, is one of the world's largest engineering companies with 110,000 employees in some 100 countries. The group reported revenue of USD29.2bn in 2007.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.80 US dollars (USD).
