Danish wind turbines manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (OMX Copenhagen:VWS) published on Wednesday (11 February) its financial figures for 2008, reporting an operating profit (EBIT) of EUR668m, as compared to EUR443m in 2007.
"The improvement was among other things due to better prices and contract terms as well as more efficient production, although production remains adversely affected by irregular supplies and failing component quality," Vestas Wind Systems said.
Revenues for the year amounted to EUR6,035m, up from EUR4,861m in the previous year.
Earnings per share increased to EUR2.8 from EUR1.6 in 2007.
Vestas Wind Systems, headquartered in Randers, Denmark, is the world's largest wind turbines manufacturer with some 35,000 wind turbines installed. The company has over 20,800 employees worldwide.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.14 euros (EUR).
