The traditional cruise book is much more than a way for Sailors to commemorate the people, places and events of a particular deployment. Years later a cruise book can help expand on official historical accounts, revealing the spirit of the era it represents. Here, excerpts from the cruise book of Valley Forge (CV 45) illustrate both humorous and literal images of an aircraft carder at war.
