On 5 December 2002, a VC-8 helo crew from NS Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, rescued a local diver who had become disoriented and came ashore on the island of Vieques. After a few hours of searching, the UH-3H Sea King found the victim lying on a beach. The helo crew retrieved the diver and transported him to a local hospital, where he was treated for exhaustion and released.
