The crew of Constellation (CV 64) quickly responded to a main machinery room fire on 8 November 2002, preventing any serious injuries or degradation to the ship's ability to continue her deployment. The fire, caused by a fuel oil leak, was contained by installed firefighting equipment in the spaces until the ship's fire parties and damage control teams extinguished it.
