Mission

Provides citizen airmen to defend the United States and protect its interests through aerospace power.

Responsibilities

Primarily airlift and refueling duties. Also provides functional mission support units, including aeria! port operations, civil engineer, security forces, intelligence, military training, communications, mobility support, combat logistics support, transportation and services.

Flying Activity

The Reserve Associate Program trains Reserve aircrews and maintenance personnel to fly and maintain more than 300 active-duty aircraft, including the F-16C, AT-38, T-1, T-37, T-38, C-5, C-9, C-17, C-141, E-3A and KC-10. Its unit-owned fleet includes A/OA-10, B-52, C-5, C-130, HC-130, WC-130, KC-135, C-141, F-16, MC-130 and HH-60 aircraft assigned to units around the United States. Of its unit-owned aircraft, in times of war or other special needs, 98 percent would be gained by Air Combat Command or Air Mobiiity Command. The remaining aircraft would go to Air Force Special Operations Command.
