Direct reporting units are subdivisions of the Air Force, directly subordinate to Air Force headquarters and are separate from any major command or field operating agency due to unique missions, legal requirements or other factors.

Mission

Sole provider of support for Headquarters Air Force and other Air Force units in the National Capital Region, including personnel, operations, logistics, finance and recreation services. Also provides support to more than 40,000 people located across the United States and in 108 countries. Maintains the daily operations of Boiling AFB. Plans and directs the Air Force Band and the Air Force Honor Guard support for the Air Force chief of staff, Air Force secretary, the White House, Arlington National Cemetery and other joint ceremonial activities.

Air Force Doctrine Center

Mission

The Air Force Doctrine Center is directly responsible to the Air Force chief of staff for developing and publishing Air Force basic and operational doctrine, as well as joint and multinational doctrine. The center stewards the Air Force Doctrine Working Group made up of major command and Air Staff representatives and hosts the annual Aerospace Power Doctrine Symposium. It also supports the doctrinally correct use of aerospace power in key joint campaign models and exercise scenarios used throughout the world. In addition, the center participates in developing future operational concepts, technologies and strategies to enhance aerospace power for the nation.

The United States Air Force Academy staff and faculty inspire and develop outstanding young men and women to become Air Force officers with knowledge, character and discipline motivated to lead the world's greatest aerospace force. Graduates receive bachelor of science degrees in one of 30 academic majors and commissions as second lieutenants.
