Mission

Provides primary force of combat air power to America's war fighting commands. Supports global implementation of the U.S. national security strategy. Operates fighter, bomber, attack, reconnaissance, battle management and electronic-combat aircraft. Operates command, control, communications and intelligence systems, and conducts global information operations.

Responsibilities

Organizes, trains, equips and maintains combat-ready forces for rapid deployment and employment, while ensuring strategic air defense forces are ready to meet the challenges of peacetime air sovereignty and wartime air defense. Numbered airforces provide a componency to U.S Central Command and U.S. Southern Command and with Headquarters ACC serving as the air component to U.S. Northern Command and Joint Forces Command. Augments forces to U.S. European Command, U.S. Pacific Command and U.S. Strategic Command.
