Direct reporting units are subdivisions of the Air Force, directly subordinate to Air Force headquarters and are separate from any major command or field operating agency due to unique missions, legal requirements or other Factors

Mission

Provides comprehensive wartime base operating and logistical support to all Air Force people in the national capital region. Supplies MAJCOM-level people, programming and comptroller support, and UCMI authority for Headquarters Air Force and Air Force elements across the United States and in 150 countries, supporting a customer base of more than 40,000 people. Plans and directs the Air Force Band and the Air Force Honor Guard in support of the Air Force chief of staff. Air Force secretary, DOD, White House, Arlington National Cemetery and other joint ceremonial activities. Executes congressionally mandated military funeral mission around the country and maintains the daily operations of Bolling AFB,

Air Force Doctrine Center

Mission

Directly responsible to the Air Force chief of staff for developing and publishing Air Force basic and operational doctrine, as well as joint and multinational doctrine. Stewards the Air Force Doctrine Working Group made up of major command and air staff representatives, and hosts symposiums, war games and the annual Air and Space Power Doctrine Summit. Support the doctrinally correct use of air and exercise scenarios used throughout the world. Investigates the doctrinal implications of future concepts and emerging technologist.

Reports directly to the Air Force vice chief of staff. Consistent with the vision "The Gold Standard for DOD Analyses," provides the Air Force chief of staff and secretary analysis that sharpens the warfighter's edge, illuminates the Air Force role in emerging DOD issues, empowers decisions, highlights risk-mitigating options and fireproofs resource requirements. In coordination with Air Force-wide centers of analytic excellence, leads actions to enhance the quality of Air Force analysis In defense reviews, force structure and resource allocation processes, and air and space expeditionary force actions.
