Enduring images - war on terrorism - Brief Article

Airman, Feb, 2002

Since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon on Sept. 11, airmen and other service members have been heavily involved in Operation Enduring Freedom.

The fight against terrorism has taken airmen to locations in Southwest Asia, leaving families and friends. The task of supporting the war has meant long hours for aircrews, maintainers and a multitude of support people.

President Bush indicated that the United States will use every tool -- military included -- to meet terrorism head-on. Airmen are part of a team effort to help carry the fight wherever needed.

The photos shown here were taken by combat camera photographers, who, along with videographers, are deployed to capture historic events of the war.
