Something in the air - Staff Sgt. plays bagpipes - Brief Article

Airman, August, 2001 by Matthew Rosine

DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Staff Sgt. Iain Morrison performs a Scottish tune on his bagpipes as part of a local pipe band.

"In good conditions, the bagpipes can be heard as far away as 10 miles and sometimes I forget that," Morrison said. "I remember when I was stationed at Fort Leavenworth [Kan.], I was behind billeting by myself, and I began to practice. After I stopped playing, I heard all this clapping and cheering from behind me. I turned around, and there were about 25 people who had heard the music and came outside to listen to me. It really wasn't that big of a deal. I was only practicing, but it was quite a moment."
