* Former President George H. W. Bush signed the first dead load aboard Pre-Commissioning Unit George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) before it was launched during catapult testing. Catapult tests consist of launching large containers, called dead loads which are equal in weight to the aircraft that will ultimately be launched off the flight deck.
