Bakin and celebratin'! - Make it! - cake recipe
Girls' Life, Feb-March, 2003
Your best friend made the varsity basketball team? Your big sis was just accepted into Princeton? Princeton! Varsity b-ball! Those are reasons to celebrate! Show her you think she's special by baking her a Celebration Cake. Basically a baby-size birthday cake, this tasty treat is a very sweet way to say, "I'm proud of you--congrats!"
What you need
Your fave cake mix and tub of icing * two small (about 4 inches) round cake pans * tubes of colored frosting and frosting gets * decorations, like gummy bears, sprinkles, those edible little silver ball things, red hots, colored sugar, M&M's, coconut, gumdrops, chopped nuts, whatever you want
What you do
Whip up cake mix according to package directions, and pour batter into pans (use leftover batter for cupcakes). Bake at the specified temperature, but reduce cooking time by half. Watch your cakes so they don't overcook (stick a toothpick in the center until it comes out clean). Cool, frost and layer. Add sprinkles or whatever. Write your sis' or bud's initials on the cake, or do a theme cake (all pink perhaps?) Done decorating? Start celebrating!
