BFF dilemma of the month
Girls' Life, Oct-Nov, 2004
My friends make fun of me because I still want to go trick-or-treating on Halloween. Should I go anyway?
It's no fun to dress up and go for candy all by myself, and I want my buds to come with me. What should I do?
Say, "Won't it be fun to dress up?" My friends and I think it is really fun to dress up in stupid outfits. Remind them that they can be anything, like a Barbie, a baby or even an old lady with a big butt. I have been all those, and it is so fun.

A great way to get candy, show off your costume and be with your friends is to throw a party. Decorate your house, play scary music, and load up on candy! Plus, you won't have to worry about staying warm on a chilly night.
--Kate, 13
Try telling your buds how you feel. They might change their minds. If they don't, consider having a scary movie night. Just don't let your buds tell you what you should like and what you should do.
--Sonia, 11
Your friends might see it as childish to dress up and ask for candy, so trick-or-treat for a local charity. After all, what's more fun than going out on the scariest night of the year? Not many things.
--Rebecca, 14
Go trick-or-treating with your family (take your younger sibs out), or go with friends you don't know as well. Then you'll get a chance to become even better friends with them.
