Hang time with the fam - teenagers want to spend time with their parents

Girls' Life, Oct, 2000

Ever been out to dinner with your family and secretly wished your parents would vanish? At the mall, do you walk 17 steps behind Mom? Cringe when Dad cheers at your soccer game? Depending less on your parents is a totally normal part of growing up, but we rarely hear from kids who want just the opposite--more TLC from the 'rents.

Huh? According to a recent YMCA study of 200 12- to 15-year-olds and their parents, most teens still rely most on Mom and Dad for advice. Most teens wish their parents would spend more time with them! So invite Mom to tag along for the Hanson tour. It'll be a hoot!
