And if you think Brenna (above) is impressive... Cheryl Haworth, 18, could very well be the strongest girl in the whole wide world! We featured her in our Olympic Preview in the A/S '00 issue before she lifted her way to a bronze medal in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Now, the 297-pound weightlifter has set two U.S.
records and three Goodwill Games records at the 2001 Goodwill Games in Brisbane. Cheryl won three gold medals in the snatch, clean-and-jerk, and combined events in her weight class. She lifted 280.5 pounds in the snatch, and 341 pounds in the clean-and-jerk event. Wow! Go, Cheryl! Don't try this at home.
