Get lit - My Room

Girls' Life,  Feb-March, 2002

Who says you need to have a BF to set a romantic mood for V-day? Give your bedroom a bit of ambience with a little soft music, a box of bon-bons and...some sweet-scented candles. Of course, you're going to need the parents' permission before playing with fire. But maybe you can convince them if you memorize these safety tips:

* Never leave the room with a candle burning.

* Keep candles away from drafts and flammable items (lampshades, curtains, bedding, etc.).

* Don't place candles on furniture surfaces -- put a plate (not paper!) or holder underneath.

* Toss your candle once it's down to one inch.

* Turn your candle if it starts to get lopsided.

* Keep wick trimmed to half an inch.

* Do not burn longer than an hour.
