Spring trends we love: long, cold winters are for the birds. Time to come out of the cold and warm up to pattern, color and anything-goes easiness
Girls' Life, April-May, 2006 by Brad Tuckman
Peasant Prints
LOOK FOR Big prints with easy shapes and muted tones. Go for ruffles and crinkled textures in soft pinks and purples.
WEAR IT! Layer a medium-print pattern with something softer underneath for a look that flows. Mix and match textures far a natural, earthy feel.

The Long T-shirt Dress
LOOK FOR 80s looks with an ethnic vibe.
WEAR IT. Make it girly with a rhinestone belt and a short sweater that falls off the shoulder Finish with painted wooden jewelry and twisted up braids--you're so Sixteen Candles!
Bold Floral Prints
LOOK FOR Flower power! Blooms are back and taking over. Pick up anything from dainty blossoms to bold '70s-inspired prints.
WEAR IT! Go funky by adding a colorful belt to a print top to show off your shape. Or go easy and layer a print under solids.
Gold Rules
LOOK FOR Gold is fabulous on pale skin. Frame your gorgeous face in a soft sea of gold and amber tones. Be sure to stay within the same color sphere, like oranges or browns.
WEAR IT! Play with texture. Try a piece of clothing with gold flecks against a piece of hammered gold jewelry. Create dimension with more than one kind of gold--like ethnic and bohemian. Wear it chunky, or weal it discreetly.
Cool Stripes
LOOK FOR Stripes, stripes and more stripes.
WEAR IT! Who says you can only wear one striped piece at a time? Start with a vertical base (here, it's our dress). Layer horizontal stripes over areas where you want to add a little curve.
Tie Dye
LOOK FOR Tie-dye is back! But don't monkey around with Grateful Dead rainbow brights. This time, it's all about earth tones.
WEAR IT! Pair tie-dye with solids in same color range. Ours is brown, so we added deep yellows and other pretty, neutral shades.
