Rock paper and scissors: recycling doesn't just mean tossing paper and containers to the curb for the truck to pick up. You can turn old magazines, cereal boxes and soup cans into totally fab room accessories!

large cereal box * cut-outs from old mags * scissors * ruler * tacky glue
1) Use a pencil to mark a line four inches from the bottom of the box.
2) Draw a diagonal line from the mark on one edge to the top opposite corner of the box. Repeat on the other side of the box.
3) Use scissors to cut out the top of the box by carefully following your pencil lines.
4) Glue magazine cut-outs all over the box like a collage. Let dry, then organize all your most recent magazines into the holder.

1) Thoroughly clean out the soup can, and peel off the label. Dry off with a dish towel.
2) Cut out photos, illustrations and words from the magazines.
3) Glue the images onto the can for an awesome pencil holder (or use it as a flower pot).

string of tiny-bulbed lights * scissors * small rubber bands * old magazines
1) Rip out super-colorful pages from the mass. Cut out stars, flowers and any shape you think would look cool
2) Out a small circle in the middle of each shape.
3) Wrap a rubber band around the base of each light (not on the bulb).
4) Place a cut-out just below the bulb. Put another rubber band on to keep the paper from sliding off. Repeat until all the lights are decorated.
