Spotlight a member who has made a difference - CalCPA News - California Society of Certified Public Accountants - nominations for public service awards - Brief Article

California CPA, Oct, 2003

Each year, CalCPA recognizes a member for notable works done outside of the office--often for the betterment of the community or the assistance of the less fortunate, nearly always as a volunteer.

But before CalCPA can recognize these exemplary leaders, you--the members--have to nominate them.

To be eligible for CalCPA's Public Service Award, candidates must be members in good standing and meet at least one of the following qualifications:

* Participation in charitable, civic or religious activities that have had a long-term, significant impact on the community;

* Responsible for a public service project that had a positive, significant impact on the community;

* Service in a notable volunteer capacity in local, state or federal government; or

* Service in an outstanding manner as an appointed or elected official at the local, state or federal level.

The nomination deadline is Dec. 31 and an awards ceremony will take place in 2004.
