California CPA, Nov, 2001
Grab and go. Unfortunately, the greatest benefit of a laptop computer is also one of its greatest downfalls. But it is possible to protect the data on your laptop, even if it's stolen.
With Solagent, you can register online and download an agent that helps protect your computer's data. The agent uses a random filename and extension, which makes it difficult to identify. If your laptop gets lost, you log on to Solagent from any PC, report the unit missing and choose which files on your laptop to encrypt, retrieve or delete.
If somebody logs on to the Internet with your laptop, the agent alerts Solagent's servers, which in turn begin to encrypt the selected files in the background.

Your files will be stored on Solagent's server, where you can retrieve and decrypt them using a custom tool. A security report shows which files have been retrieved and gives the ISP address used by the missing unit. Nifty! Check it out at www.solagent.com.
