Jerry Kasner

California CPA, Dec, 2004

Jerry Kasner, a longtime author, instructor and speaker for the California CPA Education Foundation, died Oct. 21 after a long illness. He was 71.

A CPA and professor emeritus of law at Santa Clara University, Kasner taught continuing education classes for the Education Foundation for more than 25 years.

Known for his outstanding contributions to estate planning professionals, Kasner served as a mentor to many estate planners in Santa Clara County, and authored numerous books on estate planning, including The Tools and Techniques of Estate Planning, Post-mortem Tax Planning and Guide to Practical Estate Planning.

The Silicon Valley San Jose Chapter Board of Directors recently honored Kasner by renaming the scholarship award for an outstanding Santa Clara University senior accounting student, The Jerry Kasner Scholarship.

Earlier this year, Kasner received the 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award from the California CPA Education Foundation and received its Award for Meritorious Service in 1985.
