Larry Stern, managing partner at Beverly Hills-based NSBN Certified Public Accountants, died Oct. 14. He was 72.

Stern, a well-known member of the Southern California business community, had been with NSBN for almost 50 years. A recognized tax expert, Stern was an active member of the profession, publishing articles in the Practical Accountant and Los Angeles Business Journal.
In addition to his CalCPA membership, Stern was an active member of his community, serving on the national board of United Cerebral Palsy, as well as Russell Bedford International. He was also a member of the AICPA, The Guardians and the Friars Club.

For his community involvement, Stern was awarded Accountant Advocate of the Year from the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, and Mayor Levyn proclaimed May 18, 2003 "Lawrence Stern Day in Beverly Hills."
Stern is survived by wife, Marlene; two sons, Rick and Randy; daughter-in-law Elisa; and three grandchildren, Travis, Devin and Logan.
