First wave of e-services

California CPA, Jan-Feb, 2004

The IRS recently began its push to broaden its online tools. Tax preparers can now apply for and receive PTINs immediately online.

The IRS also introduced an Interactive Taxpayer Identification Number Matching program, which allows taxpayers to match up to 25 taxpayer identification number and name combinations against IRS records before submitting an information return.

To access the IRS e-services, you'll first need to register at https://la.www4.irs.gov/e-services/Registration/index.htm.>
