Loyola Marymount endows accounting ethics chair - Education - Brief Article

California CPA, May, 2003

R. Chad Dreier, president and CEO of The Ryland Group, recently pledged $3.5 million to endow an accounting ethics chair at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

The gift would make the university one of the few schools in the nation to create a chair placing ethics at the fore of accounting education.

Top among the chair's objectives will be to dispel a prominent business school attitude that the bottom line is all that matters and to strengthen student understanding of real-world ethical dilemmas by teaching them the basic skills that are used in resolving these issues.
