BFOC Clinches Deal with Xinjiang and Qingdao - Beijing Fiber Optic Cable Co - Brief Article

The Beijing Fiber Optic Cable Company (BEOC), a subsidiary joint venture of Lucent Technologies, recently signed contracts with the Xinjiang Mobile, Xinjiang Telecom, and Qingdao Telecom. The total value of the contracts amounted to US$28 million.

Concerning Xinjiang, BFOC will supply 2,500 km of True Wave RS fiber cable to the Xinjiang Telecom for building the TS backbone network, which will be put to use by October 2001.

The Xinjiang Mobile will use BFOC products on its wireless network for greater transmission capacity.

As for Qingdao Telecom, BFOC will supply more than 100,000 km of All Wave fiber cable to bolster Qingdao Telecom's broadband metropolitan area network. The project is expected to be put into use by July 2001.
