TIA Publishes New Fiber Optic Standard TIA-6090000 - Telecommunications Industry Association - Brief Article

Fiber Optics Business, Dec 15, 2000

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has published a new standard, Generic Specification for Optical Fiber Splices, TIA-6090000.

The document applies to optical fiber splices used in fiber optic telecommunications. TIA-6090000 describes the general method to classify splice types, evaluate mechanical and optical performance, and establish the quality assessment provisions for optical fiber splices. Splices covered in the specification join two or more optical waveguides of sizes described in EIA-458 or commonly used in optical waveguide telecommunications.

TIA-6090000 was created by TIA's FO-6.3 Subcommittee on Fiber Optic Interconnecting Devices.
