Wired Business Extends Its High-Speed Internet Network into LayerOne Optical Transport Exchange - Brief Article

Fiber Optics Business, Jan 31, 2001

LayerOne Inc., a global provider of layer one optical transport exchange facilities and services, announced a national service agreement with Wired Business, a provider of high speed Internet access and data communications solutions to small and medium-sized businesses. By entering LayerOne's NEXUS Optical Distribution Exchanges, located in strategic telecom markets throughout the country, Wired Business can quickly interconnect with the local and long-haul carriers necessary to complete its service offering. The Exchanges also provide easy access for customers who want entrance to the Wired Business network. Wired Business will initially offer access to its high-speed Internet and data services from LayerOne's Miami facility, with the option to expand into additional facilities as they become available.

The NEXUS Exchange dramatically expedites service turn up by offering an eminently practical solution for network interconnection. NEXUS facilities give carriers access to a system of neutral exchange points where they can connect -- glass to glass -- with multiple transport partners. LayerOne also enables end customers to connect with bandwidth providers and to make advantageous customer-to-customer connections with others co-locating within the NEXUS. To support both carriers and their customers, LayerOne offers a range of carrier-grade services, including on-site remote hands, equipment installation, testing and service turn up and circuit grooming.
