Ford Motor Company Chooses E-Sync Networks' TotalMail to Replace Existing In-Plant Messaging Systems - Brief Article

Information Superhighways Newsletter, Oct, 2000

E-Sync Networks Inc., a provider of e-business-to-business applications arid integration services, announced that Ford Motor Company will use its TotalMail services to replace the existing messaging systems at up to 30 of its plants.

Under the terms of the service agreement, E-Sync Networks initially will roll out 6,500 TotalMail c-mailboxes. According to Ford's estimates, the number of outsourced e-mailboxes will grow to approximately 50,000 by year-end 2002.

Ford's desire to increase messaging functionality and to reduce the costs associated with maintaining in-plant messaging systems was what prompted its search for a next-generation, outsourced messaging service.

The company reviewed proposals from several of the top messaging services providers, including Critical Path, Mailcom, and USA.net, before selecting E-Sync Networks' TotalMail. TotalMail is a unified and secure corporate messaging solution that offers unsurpassed integration of e-mail with voicemail, paging, telephony, calendaring, public and private folders, directory services, distribution lists, and virus scanning.

It also offers automated directory synchronization and an established, secure connection to the Automotive Industry Action Group's Automotive Network Exchange (AIAG ANX), which Ford requires.
