Salesforce.com and Sprint Announce Strategic Alliance - Brief Article
Information Superhighways Newsletter, March, 2001
Salesforce.com, a market leader in delivering enterprise applications as on-line services, announced that it has formed an alliance with Sprint PCS, the nation's fastest growing wireless carrier, to provide its on-line customer relationship management suite as part of the Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business. This strategic partnership will provide salesforce.com's customers with anytime, anywhere access to its powerful, scalable, and affordable customer relationship management (CRM) applications on the nation's largest all-digital voice and data PCS wireless network.
Sprint PCS customers who subscribe to salesforce.com will be able to wirelessly access the on-line CRM applications and data - all via the Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business on their Internet-ready Sprint PCS phones. Customers who adopt this wireless solution once it becomes available will be able to easily access the application under the Business Tools folder on their Sprint PCS phone minibrowser.
As a subscription-based service, salesforce.com eliminates the need to buy, install, and maintain hardware, software, and networks, and can therefore be implemented in hours at a significantly lower cost than traditional enterprise software. This makes it particularly attractive to small to medium-sized businesses that don't have the resources for large installations behind their firewalls, as well as for larger companies that have remote sales offices. As part of the Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business, customers will be able to access salesforce.com at their convenience on the browser of a Sprint PCS Internet-ready phone and require little or no training or IT support.
