Digital World Service Integrates BMG's Digital Music in over 50 On-Line Retail Sites - Brief Article

Information Superhighways Newsletter, April, 2001

Digital World Services announced the successful integration of BMG Entertainment's digital music offering into a growing retail network.

Since launching its Retailer Integration System for BMG on October 10, 2000, Digital World Services has integrated the music major's digital distribution program with the e-commerce sites of Ritmoteca.com and Alliance Entertainment's thestore24, which includes over 50 sub-affiliates, among them Peaches and Penny Lane Records.

Digital World Services helped BMG initially launch its digital repertoire three months ago with more than 100 singles and albums from BMG artists. The offering now surpasses 2,900 tracks. Digital World Services is also one of BMG's technology partners to support digital rights management based portable devices. Tracks purchased through BMG retailers may be transferred to portable music devices that support InterTrust's DRM technology known as Rights/PD.

Digital World Services provides a solution for BMG that includes the operation of its clearing house for rights management and retailer integration. Additionally, Digital World Services is responsible for the secure packaging of the media content. The digital downloads are presently offered to consumers in advanced audio coding (AAC) format.
