Mobli Launches Software Site to Meet Rising Demand for Handheld Device Applications - Brief Article
Information Superhighways Newsletter, April, 2001
Mobli Inc., a publisher of software and services for handheld devices and mobile phones, announced the launch of its Web site for consumers and software developers. The site's selection of entertainment, business, and personal utilities for the Palm, Pocket PC, and Symbian platforms give consumers a range of options for choosing the right software to get the most out of their personal digital assistants (PDAs). With the launch of its site, Mobli further establishes itself as a leader in providing quality software for today's rapidly growing wireless device market.
From the full color role playing game, Basylonia, to the convenient, powerful finance program, Cash Master, Mobli offers a wide range of top selling titles that allow handheld devices to do more than store phone numbers and serve as notepads. The site also offers free trial versions of titles, as well as products in both English and German. All titles on the Mobli site are sorted by platform and environment (Fun, Info, or Tools-on-the-Go) and range in price from $10 to $49.95.
Demand for handheld software is on the rise from the current 10 to 15 percent of handheld owners who actively visit download libraries and make purchases. According to IDC, the number of PDAs shipped per year will climb from 10 million in 2000 to close to 35 million by 2003. The exploding number of smart phones will further boost the market for handheld software. Mobli is in a unique position to establish a brand and gain significant market share in the industry by creating relationships with independent software developers and by providing these developers with marketing support. To assist Mobli in reaching this objective, the new Web site also features a separate developer's lounge where programmers can download free programming tools and discuss how to create applications for next-generation software and platforms.
