Bedstat Signs on 100+ Community Care Facilities in Metro Atlanta - Brief Article
Information Superhighways Newsletter, July, 2001
Bedstat, a provider of Web-based patient placement and information exchange systems for hospitals and long-term care facilities, announced it has signed on more than 100 community care facilities in metro Atlanta to exclusive contracts. This benchmark is testament to the rapid growth of the company, which was launched in September 2000.
"We're extremely pleased with the quick acceptance of Bedstat in the industry," said David Hayes, president of Bedstat. "We've been able to dramatically reduce length of stay for hospitals and make the discharge placement process more efficient. The signing of 100 community care facilities indicates we're doing the right things."
"I strongly believe that those who do not subscribe to, and use, this service will lose out on critical market share," said Dan Bonner, senior director of provider relations for integrated health services. "I therefore recommend that all integrated health services facilities within the metropolitan Atlanta region use Bedstat aggressively."
Bedstat is currently in its second stage of technology development, adding additional components of clinical information and services integral to the needs of hospital discharge planners and community care coordinators. Bedstat now includes on-line reporting capabilities, automatic referral alerts, and multi-fax capabilities designed to increase the turnaround time for connecting hospitals and community care facilities and expediting discharge placement.
"There's no other service that gives bed availability like Bedstat," said Vibeke Newell, a licensed certified social worker at Dekalb Medical Center. "Bedstat offers a wider range of options to meet more of my patients' needs. It's one-stop shopping for identifying availability so we can ensure perfect placements every time."
