Bombay Stock Exchange Implements Tellabs' MartisDXX System for High-Speed Data Network

Information Superhighways Newsletter, August, 2000

Tellabs announced that Mahanagar Telephone Nigram Ltd. (MTNL), of India, has selected Tellabs' MartisDXX system for a managed access network solution for its high-speed data network connecting more than 1,000 stockbrokers on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

MTNL, the incumbent PTT serving the metro areas of Delhi and Mumbai, selected Tellabs because it delivered a carrier-class solution that MTNL could implement for the mission-critical data of India's largest stock exchange.

"We are very impressed that Tellabs has been consistent in providing good service," said G.C. Mishra, MTNL's general manager of leased circuits. "The current project was planned, installed, and commissioned in record time."

"Tellabs is pleased to work with MTNL to help it deliver a seamless high-speed data network to one of its key customers, the BSE," said C.S. Rao, country manager for Tellabs in India.

"The MartisDXX Network Management System provides MTNL with the flexibility to manage its own network and provides the BSE with high-speed DSL access to its private wide area network."

The MartisDXX system provides operators with a migration path from the current time-division multiplexed service platforms to next-generation data communications access platforms through an integrating network and services management system. The MartisDXX system is currently deployed in more than 180 networks and 70 countries worldwide, providing intelligent transport for mobile services and a broad range of business services, including LAN interconnect, digital leased line, frame relay, and PBX interconnection.

Tellabs designs, manufactures, markets, and services data, voice, and video transport, switching/routing, and network access systems. The company's products are used worldwide by the providers of communications services.
