Information Superhighways Newsletter, Sept, 2001

Priceline.com posted a profit of $2.8 million, or a penny a share, resulting from a sharp increase in sales totaling $364.8 million for the second quarter. The numbers were well above analysts' estimates of $301 million. The generally accepted accounting practice used to tally the quarter's results makes Priceline the second major Internet company to post a profit, joining eBay.
