FirstWorld Launches Internet Data Center in Irvine with 17 Percent Pre-Sold - Brief Article

FirstWorld Communications, a provider of outsourced data center, Web, and application hosting solutions for small- and medium-sized businesses, opened its latest Internet data center (IDC) in Irvine, CA to serve customers' mission critical application and Web hosting needs. With approximately 50,000 gross square feet, this latest IDC is part of the expansion of FirstWorld's high-availability, high-security data environments in metropolitan areas, which are designed to support the demand for complex Web and application hosting.

The Irvine IDC brings FirstWorld's total number of IDCs in operation to nine, with a total gross square footage of nearly 220,000 square feet. FirstWorld expects to open one additional IDC by the end of the year in Houston, TX, bringing its total to 250,000 gross square feet.
