DTN Brings High-Speed Wireless Internet Access to Rural America - Data Transmission Network Corp - Brief Article

ISP Business, March, 2001

Data Transmission Network Corp. (DTN) announced that after a year of testing, the company is bringing high-speed, high-quality Internet access to rural and underserved markets. Greg Sloma, DTN president and CEO, said, "The need for broadband Internet access in rural America is growing, making this a natural fit for DTN products and its experience in serving rural America."

The new service, called DTN Speed.Net, has been testing for the past year in several Nebraska communities. Speed.Net offers three types of services: a high-speed wireless service that is up to 25 times faster than dial-up, a high-quality local dial-up, and an 800 number access. The wireless customer is served by an easy to install external antennae, a radio modem card, and cabling to their PC.

According to Gene Porter, president of DTN Speed.Net, "Our mission is to provide quality access at a reasonable cost with excellent customer service. Taking the time to go through our test has prepared us well for executing our mission. We extend thanks to our test customers for being technology leaders."

DTN.Speed high-speed wireless is an always-on connection not requiring phone lines. The service offers residential, business, and business network access and Web hosting. Deployment of the service is already underway across the central US.
