Novarra Launches WirelessWeb Enterprise Suite - Brief Article - Product Announcement
ISP Business, March, 2001
Novarra Inc. has launched its WirelessWeb Enterprise Suite, the first plug-in software solution that instantly enables e-business applications to interact with wireless devices. The patent-pending software is the first of its kind to adapt desktop-centric content for use on small-screened devices without requiring changes to existing enterprise applications or compromising a quality mobile user experience. With Novarra's WirelessWeb Enterprise Suite, virtually any company can be wirelessly connected to their enterprise applications within days.
NTE, the company that launched the nation's first Internet transportation exchange, also announced it has implemented Novarra's WirelessWeb Enterprise Suite to deliver a new form of transportation trading - via wireless. The B2B, e-commerce company will enable shippers and carriers to buy and sell transportation services in its on-line marketplace while on the road, avoiding the costly and lengthy trips on on-line kiosks around the nation. NTE is one of the nation's first B2B transportation e-marketplace to use wireless application protocol (WAP)-enabled cellular phones to provide carriers and shippers an easy-to-use trading platform.
Novarra's WirelessWeb Enterprise Suite instantly adapted NTE's existing Web-based applications for wireless interaction without altering the applications in any way. NTE member carriers can enter the password-protected system using Internet-compatible cellular phones from their vehicles to reduce empty backhauls, increase profits, and help improve their customers' bottom lines. By simply accessing NTE's e-marketplace, member companies can easily identify loads that are available in any given state, as well as the pricing, pickup, and delivery requirements. Armed with this information, member carriers can then book a shipment via the keypad of their cellular phones. The carrier companies also will be able to provide status updates on their deliveries, allowing shippers and others in the supply chain to always-know the whereabouts of their goods and obtain associated accessorial charge information.
With Novarra's WirelessWeb Enterprise Suite, all Web-based applications, including customer relationship management, supply chain management, field service, and intranet portals can be seamlessly delivered to the mobile workforce. Novarra's WirelessWeb Enterprise Suite uses a proprietary, patent pending Adaptive Content Accelerator to instantly adapt desktop-centric Web content for a high-quality mobile user experience on small-screened devices. The solution simply plugs into an organization's existing e-business infrastructure to deliver wireless interaction with handheld devices, eliminating the need for companies to redevelop applications or to perform intrusive application integration. With Novarra, enterprises can implement a single wireless solution delivered across multiple networks and on multiple device platforms, eliminating the complexity, integration, and testing costs associated with using multiple vendors. Because it is a complete software solution, WirelessWeb Enterprise Suite instantly adapts applications for wireless access, manages wireless connectivity, and implements end-to-end security with a simple behind-the-firewall installation.
